Bartender 6.0.1

Bartender 6.0.1

Our first update for Bartender 6 brings a huge pass of fixes, and aims to fix issues seen in the final public build of macOS Tahoe. Please keep reporting any issues directly to us so we can fix anything that comes up — we read every email we get.

New

  • The link in the license email to auto-license Bartender will now open Bartender & automatically apply your license. (Some email clients may not allow this link to be clicked.)

Fixes

  • Item spacing will now apply correctly.
  • When toggling the bar with hovering/clicking, clicking an item won’t then hide the bar & the item’s menu.
  • When your bar is too long and items are popped into the hidden section, the layout page will now show which items are popped.
  • Reduced indexing frequency and prevented updates during the process whilst we wait for it to settle.
  • Improved indexing reliability when there are more than 100 bar items.
  • Overflow for notch/left menu will now correctly trigger an overflow into the hidden bar.
  • Updated messaging in the license screen for mega supporters (thank you 🙌🏼).
  • Stopped the mouse flickering with large bars.
  • Lowered the amount of moves Bartender has to make on first open, or when a new app gets added.
  • Added an option to send us debug logs in Settings if you face issues.
  • Stopped Bartender showing its preferences window on launch.
  • Styles will still apply correctly on Tahoe — you may see some issues on Sequoia, which we’ll fix in the next update.
  • Fixed deleted sub-bars & groups from staying in the profile and causing items to be unmovable from the Always Hidden section.
  • When a menu bar item is temporarily shown, it won’t hide during interaction.

Bartender 6.0.0

Bartender 6

Meet Bartender 6 - re-engineered from the ground up for performance & compatibility with macOS Tahoe.

Design

Bartender has a whole new glassy look, designed to fit right in on Tahoe.

Performance

Bartender is faster than ever, moving your items faster, and performing less moves when it does. Applying presets with huge changes will only take a couple seconds.

Widgets (beta)

Widgets let you create your own menu bar items, with no code required. From monitoring cpu usage, to controlling system settings, and even your favorite music player, it’s all available for you to play with. If you’re looking to get something really custom, you can also setup scripts to have them do anything.

Layout

Overflowing beyond the notch or left menu has been updated to automatically pop those items, and when the hidden bar won’t fit, we’ll show Bartender bar instead, so you can still see all your items.

Styles

We’ve added a whole new set of styles on Tahoe, including glass, and restoring classic bar styles. You can get back that sequoia look, create a glassy round bar, and more.

Preview

Please write in with any issues you see! You can get in touch with us via [email protected] We’re aware of a couple issues we’re aiming to fix as soon as possible - mostly related to styling.
  • Styles don’t display as expected on Sequoia
  • Material styles can flicker or apply darker than expected
  • Some styles don’t apply consistently
  • Separate pills don’t update in real-time, and sometimes show at the wrong length on a second display

Bartender Test Build 6.1.3

Bartender 6.1.3

This update fixes issues seen with multi monitor setups, and improves how bartender detects new menu bar items.

  • Users with multiple monitors won't see the mouse switching between them
  • When using multiple monitors, layouts will finish faster, and not cause the mouse to lock
  • When using multiple monitors, layouts will finish faster, and not cause the mouse to lock
  • Bartender should now update less often, and layouts should be “stable” even with menu bar items that show custom views
  • You can now disable the 'Pause' function, which will stop item groups from staying open after you expand them. We plan to disable this for all users in a future update.

Bartender Test Build 6.0.2

Bartender 6.0.2

This update for Bartender moves the “Hidden” text away if it was incorrectly placed next to your shown bar, and prevents system lag by pausing Bartender when WindowServer starts to slow down.

When WindowServer starts to spike, Bartender will pause itself. You can still re-arrange your items in the layout page, but they won’t apply until there’s less system pressure. We’re hoping this is a temporary solution, and that Tahoe’s next updates fix the issues with WindowServer
