Quick Tips

Permissions will not stick

Open System Settings > Privacy & Security, remove Bartender from Screen & System Audio Recording and Accessibility, then relaunch Bartender and grant access again.

My mouse keeps jumping

Bartender needs to move your mouse periodically to keep your menu bar layout in check. If you switch to on-demand mode, we'll never move the mouse unless you ask us to.

Need help switching modes?

Items move after a reboot

Turn on item indexing in Advanced Settings so Bartender can keep track of your items and preserve the same order between restarts.

Which macOS versions should I use with Bartender 6?

Bartender 6 is for macOS Tahoe & Sequoia. If you are using Sonoma, your Bartender 6 license also works with Bartender 5, so you can keep using the right version for your Mac.

How do I retrieve my license key?

Use the license lookup page and we will email your license details back to you.

I already own an older version. How do upgrades work?

Start on the purchase page. If you already have a Bartender license, choose the upgrade path and enter your existing details when prompted.

How do I install Bartender 6 or move over from an older version?

Download Bartender 6, open the disk image, drag it into Applications, then launch it. Once it is running correctly you can remove older Bartender versions if you no longer need them.

Can I use one license on all of my Macs?

Yes. A Bartender license covers all Macs you own and personally use.

Can I import my Bartender 5 setup into Bartender 6?

No. Because of the platform changes behind Bartender 6, settings from Bartender 5 cannot be imported directly. If you still have your older setup available, taking a few reference screenshots makes recreating it much faster.

What should I include when I email support?

Include your macOS version, Bartender version, what you expected to happen, and what actually happened. Screenshots, screen recordings, and debug logs are especially helpful.
